Farmer’s shops (Boutiques Paysannes): a network of producers’ shops

Associative Private

Farmer's shops

< back to initiatives

Context

Certain producers' stores wished to federate into a network in order to exchange on their respective experiences and perpetuate their initiatives while respecting a common charter.

It is from this desire that the Boutiques Paysannes Languedoc-Roussillon and Terres d'envie Rhône-Alpes associations were created in the 1990s. The Boutiques Paysannes charter is now jointly supported by these two structures.

Project

Present in several French cities, notably Lyon and Montpellier, the Boutiques Paysannes are a network of collective points of sale held and managed by farm producers who sell the products of their exploitation directly to consumers without intermediaries. You can find everything you need for daily meals, with a wide range of fresh, local, seasonal and quality products. A producer is always there to welcome and advise customers, to provide a guarantee and transparency on the origin of the products, on the methods of breeding, cultivation and processing. Each Boutique Paysanne is a reflection of the territory in which it is registered.

In short, shopping in a Boutique Paysanne means that you:

  • Consume fresh, local and seasonal
  • Are in direct and permanent contact with producers
  • Contribute to sustainable, fair and human-scale agriculture
  • Reduce its ecological footprint on the environment: a Boutique Paysanne® is a short local circuit
  • Foster the maintenance and creation of employment in rural areas through fairer and more regular income for producers

The Little Extra

The quality approach “Products from our farms and workshops, sold by ourselves” is being recognized by an inspection body.
