The Context

"The canteen is often the place where we meet to eat, together, with friends, colleagues or family. Sometimes you even have time to remake the world."

This is how Chloé Rouger imagined KANTINE magazine in 2019, with the idea that cooking is not "just" cooking, but also a way of sharing and understanding the world.

Through podcasts, recipes and, above all, conviviality, let's sit down to eat and rebuild the world together!

The project

In her podcasts, Chloé meets people who engage in their daily lives, who reinvent their way of life or their work. So we talk about commitment towards more solidarity and the will to build meaning and bring people together.

The podcast format, which is becoming increasingly popular, allows proximity with these actors of change. Listen and feel the energy of each person in their commitment to their values. A real connection is made with the listener. It is as if we are also sitting down with them and sharing the conversation. This makes it a more playful way to learn.

At KANTINE, we talk about everything. Healthier food, sustainable agriculture, waste management, sustainable development, ecology, but also the human aspect of it all.

The speakers are on the initiative or members of associations, farmers, company directors or simply citizens. They have varied backgrounds and commitments, but they all have one thing in common: acting on their convictions.

Each podcast lasts about 30 minutes. Following a summary of the podcast by Chloé, the speakers are invited to tell their stories. What was the trigger for this change in life? What did they do before? How did they implement their projects?

The notion of trigger is quite important in KANTINE's podcasts. In particular, we talk about the gap between his deep convictions and his work. The desire to start from scratch, to set up his own project. An ecological fibre, the importance of commitment. But also awareness through reports or travels around the world.

Each podcast is different and allows the subjects to be approached from different angles. The conversations lead to many reflections on many subjects, both environmental and societal.

Examples of the topics covered :

Importance of making the link between consumers and local producers; Raising awareness of the path from "earth to plate"; Finding the "true" taste of food; Rethinking agricultural farming methods; Our link with nature and the need to listen to it better; Including the field of social psychology to take into account the human factor; Creating a benevolent atmosphere in the work environment; Job creation; Valuing workers in precarious situations; Etc.

At KANTINE, we therefore talk about remaking the world, while getting to know committed actors. The KANTINE podcasts are thus a good tool for discovering each person's projects/initiatives. We look forward to the next podcasts!

The little extra

We mainly talked about podcasts, but KANTINE is also about recipes! And for this "little extra", no need for a thousand words: the photos speak for themselves.
