Dalat Organik

Context

Dalat Organic is one of the only organic farms around Ho Chi Minh City. It was established over 15 years ago and covers an area of 3 hectares.

Dalat Organic is certified in Organic Agriculture (AB) by the European, American and Japanese certifying bodies. In Vietnam, the use of pesticides and fertilisers in agriculture is very common. Dalat Organik's aim is to develop a form of agriculture that is more respectful of the environment, preserving the soil against a background of pollution, degradation and increasing greenhouse gas emissions. The aim is also to offer quality products without residues of pesticides or chemicals.

Project

The aim of the project is to balance the ecosystem, preserve the soil and stabilise its living organisms.

It's also about sharing knowledge and information: Dalat Organik welcomes people who want to start organic farming.

Marketing

One shop in Ho Chi Minh City. Customers are both private individuals concerned about environmentally friendly food and professionals looking for products whose origin they can identify. Price is still an obstacle for some consumers, who are not prepared to pay 2 or 3 times more for food if they are interested in the environmental approach.
Certification: Triple certification is difficult and costly, so it is not widely used in Vietnam.

Production method:

Use of greenhouses to control climatic parameters and prevent insect parasites. If infections or parasites develop, the affected parts are removed by hand. Use of garlic preparations or neem oil, etc. Crop rotation is also used to limit the spread of parasites or diseases.

Opening up the farm:

communicating environmental practices, raising consumer awareness and exchanging information between farming professionals.
