Context

“The idea of ​​creating my transformation workshop came from a simple observation: in arboriculture, 20 to 30% of the fruits are lost, due to a size, or an aspect, which does not allow them to be marketed.  I love my job and the fruit of my land, I wanted to limit this waste!

Le Verger de Thau selects the best local fruit to offer juices and nectars.

The Orchard of Thau attaches great importance to working with local partners, so that the fruit does not have to travel more than 100km to reach the transformation workshop. It is the sine qua non condition to preserve all their freshness and flavor.

Fervent defenders of their land, the Orchard of Thau knows how essential it is to take care of the environment. This is why they launched an organic range, in order to encourage local production, concerned with human health and the earth.

Their approach is also part of an approach to limit wastage, in order to enhance all the local fruits, including those that do not meet the criteria (size and visual appearance) of large-scale distribution.

Passionate about their work, they are proud to offer tasty quality products to everyone. Their work can be difficult too, where uncertainty is part of everyday life, notably due to the vagaries of the weather. In this context, solidarity between farmers is essential and the Orchard of Thau is happy to be able to participate in the promotion of the production of their colleagues.

The transformation/ production workshop runs from May to January without interruption. Juices and nectars come in different containers:

  • 25cl bottles (restaurants, tea rooms, etc.)
  • 1l bottles (delicatessens, caterers ...)
  • Bag-in-Box (BIB) 3l and 5l (schools, retirement homes, etc.)

Project leaders

The story began in 1986 when our ancestors settled on the edge of the Thau lake in the Hérault! The love of their profession had been passed on from generation to generation until Michel, the then 40-year-old grandson, decided to create the “Verger de Thau” workshop to enhance the fruit of his land that he loves so much!
