Context

The Place aux Jardins association, created in 2012 and stemming from the dynamics of Terre d´Adeles, aims to strengthen the bond with the land and the bond with others by supporting the creation of gardens and supporting gardeners. This involves the proliferation of collective gardens here and there, animated by residents and actors who are gradually becoming "gardeners in the city" and who come to create a network of meetings, exchanges and solidarity.

Since its inception, Place aux Jardins has acquired multiple skills by supporting very different gardens: in social centers, in hostels, in schools, in neighborhood gardens, or in family gardens, in collective market gardening spaces , etc.

Project

The main goal of this association is to create collective, participative and citizen projects in the form of open and integrated nature spaces in the city.

These spaces can be individual or collective, mixed and inclusive. They are part of the logic of exchange, mutualisation and solidarity, and wish to encourage the participation of local partnerships by relying on networking and capitalization between the gardens, in order to create a real local dynamic around gardens.

These gardens also aim to raise awareness of natural farming practices, accessible with few means, based on agroecology and permaculture principles, to preserve biodiversity and the spread of eco-consumption practices.

Place aux Jardins intervenes for a range of garden projects, by supporting projects in a local garden dynamic or specific projects adapted to each actor, by designing the technical monitoring of urban and collective vegetable gardens and by animating a real social dynamic.

Project leaders

The association is made up of a diverse team:

  • Coordinator, Dorothée Nicq Einsenbeis
  • Environment and visual arts animator, Sarah Gourdel
  • Network leader and project manager, Matthieu Antunes
  • Technical animator and supervisor, Gisèle Mas
  • Garden manager, Emeric Dugois
  • and many assistants and other volunteers.

Together this team has made it possible to build up a network of specialized speakers based on the needs of each project. It is a member of and correspondent for the New Aquitaine region in the National Network of Shared Gardens, the “Garden in All Its States”.

The Little Extra

The Place aux Jardins association offers training courses throughout the Gironde on agroecological issues: preserving the soil, lasagna gardening, integrating biodiversity. Find their catalog by following the link!
