AgrHub

The context

Ho Chi Minh City is a very dynamic city where the issue of air pollution is very present and where there is an increasing urgency to improve air quality and the living conditions of its inhabitants.

Urban agriculture could be part of the solution. Urban agriculture is an agricultural activity adapted to the specific characteristics of urban areas within large cities to feed part of the population. In Ho Chi Minh City, it is difficult to carry out urban agriculture like in Singapore or Japan because the conditions are not right. There is no land for traditional farming, and produce is imported from neighbouring countries such as Malaysia and China.

The government is therefore promoting and supporting urban agriculture. This includes home-grown systems on multi-storey terraces to support the supply of some of the food to meet the needs of the local population, as well as promoting production activities to fully meet domestic demand without importing from neighbouring countries.

The project

Tan is the founder of the AgrHub project, which aims to provide technological solutions in the agricultural sector. AgrHub provides connected objects for the agricultural sector, using artificial intelligence to help farmers make the right decisions.

AgrHub's goal is to create increasingly 'clean' and higher quality food for consumers. That's why AgrHub's products are designed to increase both production efficiency and product quality, bringing better products to consumers. AgrHub's aim is to build an agricultural ecosystem from production to marketing, helping farmers to move to a more virtuous production system, but also opening up more profitable market opportunities for them through better quality products.

Consumers will have access to healthier products compared to conventional production methods. All approaches are based on technology, crop management, production orientation, traceability and producer linkages.

AgrHub services

AgrHub has a wide range of activities:

1) Advising farmers on building a membrane or net around the growing system and installing an aquaponics system.

2) Providing technological equipment and installing it on the farm.

3) Developing an application that provides access to a large database, as AgrHub works in partnership with universities and agricultural research institutes to improve productivity and quality while reducing costs.

4) Labelling and QR code generation to improve the traceability of agricultural products. 

5) AgrHub connects farmers directly with partners for marketing or purchasing equipment.
